if you are a trans woman there are a few things that you need to understand. First of all is that you are still a man because you can't change your biological sex. It's okay to dress any way you wish and to adopt any superficial, stereotypical attributes of women that you desire. Live your life. No one should care, I certainly don't. However, because women are entitled to be treated fairly and to enjoy privacy from men there are certain things that are prohibited to you and me because we are men. You can't compete against women in most sports because it would be unfair. You can't go into women's private places like restrooms and locker rooms because that would make them feel unsafe. Finally, if you are a criminal you certainly can't be imprisoned with women.

That's it, just like me.

Well said! TW are male. And their maleness occasionally matters.

Another marvelous interview, Jocelyn! Although the need to fight this battle is maddening, I am regularly consoled and uplifted by knowing so many intelligent, brave allies -- with a sense of humor, no less -- are there as well. We are in such good company with each other.

Thank you, Cynthia, for your courage and determination; as a lesbian, it helps me especially to know other lesbians are out there pushing back against this nonsense, as I know few in my area. Any of us might, in previous generations, have been the girls now seduced into self-harm by an ideology that teaches them they are actually boys. And many of us benefited so greatly from participation in female-only sports, which do so much to bolster self-esteem and confidence for young women who badly need it.

So great to read this! So glad people are gathering and speaking in SF! As a lifelong Dem, as a formerly gender-non-conforming child and teen, and as the mother of a desister, it warms my heart.

I’d love to have more groups like this in other parts of the country! It really brings to mind the “consciousness raising” movement of 20th century feminism
